Today I'm going to me very sincere. I love and hate Miranda Makaroff. At times I adore her, at times I detest her. At times I find she says the smartest things, at times I only see a hollow brain.

There was a time when I didn't care about her but either she's more mature and interesting or either I've finally seen what she has to offer.

Either way, I wanted to share with you this very stupid feeling and hope that your comments shed some light.

Finally I wanted to tell you how moving I've found her latest post about her mum. I'd feel complete if one day my children say such thing about me. Yes, I know I'm being sentimental.

Hoy voy a ser muy sincera. Quiero y odio a Miranda Makaroff. A veces la adoro, a veces la detesto. A veces creo que dice las cosas más inteligentes, otras sólo veo encefalograma plano.

Hubo un tiempo en el que no me atraía nada pero o ahora es más madura e interesante o finalmente yo he podido ver lo que tiene que ofrecer.

En cualquier caso quería compartir con vosotros este sentimiento tan estúpido y espero que vuestros comentarios arrojen alguna luz.

Finalmente, quería comentaros lo enternecedor que me ha parecido su último post sobre su madre. Me sentiría completa si algún día mis hijos dijeran semejantes cosas sobre mí. Sí, sé que estoy cursi.

There are some poses that are too much in a blog. This image is a clear example. I'd define it like a sensual calendar kind of pose. For me it's so crystal clear that I can't understand how others don't see it. But as always, it seems that it is not that obvious and that, perhaps, it's a matter of tastes. What do you think? Hay algunas poses que son demasiado para un blog. Esta imagen es un ejemplo perfecto. Lo definiría como una pose sensual de calendario. Para mí está clarísimo y no entiendo cómo puede haber otros que no lo vean. Pero como siempre, parece que no es tan obvio y que, a lo mejor, es una cuestión de gustos. ¿Qué pensáis? Another obvious concept: Dress according to your age and body. These Spanish Sisters deffend that they can dress as they wish and they do not understand why other skinny and beautiful bloggers are always being praised when they are only wearing a t-shirt and a pair of skinny jeans and there are others, like them, that risk with volumes and colours and thus deserve more attention. Let me explain you something, Sisters: it's not only a t-shirt or skinny jeans, it's THE t-shirt, THE skinny jeans and THE shoes they choose. On the second hand it's not a question of being beautiful and skinny, it's a question of age and body. Age, because you can not wear what a teenager or a 20-something wears because it just doesn't suit you, you look disguised. You can be perfectly stylish dressing according to your age and beauty doesn't matter, I'm telling you. Also, you can not wear the same clothes if you are skinny, if you are normal or if you are overweight. It's so obvious that the clothes won't fit the same. So getting to the point, the choice you've made is not bad. It is not my style at all but if I saw a teenager wearing what you are wearing today, I'd just say, "ok, it's not my favourite bag but she rocks that outfit!". But I don't see you wearing it just because of your age. I don't see it. You look like a grown-up Lolita. And don't think that because you are 40 you have less choices, no, you've got a wide range of possibilities, possibilities that the youngest ones can not wear, because they can't either wear everything. Teenage girls dressed like 40-something is not nice either. Anyway, you may dress as you wish but don't expect compliments just because. More at Sisters and Dresses.

Otro concepto obvio: Vístete teniendo en cuenta tu edad y tu cuerpo. Estas Sisters españolas defienden que pueden vestir como quieran y no entienden por qué a otras blogueras delgadas y guapas siempre se las adula cuando llevan sólo una camiseta y unos pitllos y hay otras, como ellas, que arriesgan con volúmenes y colores y por tanto se merecen más atención. Déjame explicaros algo, Sisters: no es sólo una camiseta o unos pitillos, es LA caiseta, LOS pitillos y LOS zapatos que elijan. En segundo lugar, no es una cuestión de ser guapa y delgada, es una cuestión de edad y cuerpo. Edad, porque no te puedes poner lo mismo que una adolescente o una de 20 tantos porque sencillamente, no te pega, parece que vas disfrazada. Puedes ir perfectamente estilosa acorde con tu edad y la belleza no importa. Además, no puedes llevar las mismas cosas si estás delgada, normal o tienes sobrepeso. Es tan obvio que la ropa no quedará igual. Así que llegando donde quiero llegar, la elección que has hecho no está mal. No es mi estilo pero si viera a una adolescente llevando lo que estás llevando hoy diría "vale, no es mi bolso favorito pero le queda genial ese look!". Pero no te veo a ti llevándolo por tu edad. No lo veo. Pareces una Lolita que ha crecido. Y no pienses que por tener 40 tienes menos opciones, no, tienes un amplio abanico de posibilidades, posibilidades que las más jovenes no puededn llevar porque tampoco ellas pueden llevar cualquier cosa. Una adolescente que se disfraza de una de 40 tampoco es bonito. Está claro, puedes ponerte lo que quieras pero no esperes halagos sólo porque sí. Más en Sisters and Dresses.

There are some things I can't stand on fashion bloggeres and one of them is too tight pants or skirts. If you are brave enough to take a picture of yourself and then upload it in a blog, at least take attention to the details that can ruin a picture. Hay algunas cosas que no soporto de las fashion bloggers y una de ellas es que lleven faldas o pantalones demasiado ajustados. Si eres lo suficientemente valiente para hacerte una foto y después colgarla en un blog, al menos presta atención a los detalles que pueden arruinar una foto. MY ANSWER

Ha. First of all, you’re taking it way too seriously.

We’re not talking about how to end hunger or wars in the world, we’re talking about FASHION, come on!!

Having said this, I’m going to explain to you some facts that you seem to have missed.

I have the right to have my own opinion on how others dress and of course on how bloggers dress.

I have the right to have my opinion and I have the right to express it the way I feel best.

I have never earned anything doing this nor have I dedicated myself to this in a serious way because, fortunately, I have a job and I have a life that has kept me from posting regularly. Lately, I have even stopped posting at all because I don’t have time and because I’m a little fed up of criticizing. Yes, it’s not my usual way of doing things, I admit it. I started this blog because I found it terribly awful that it was impossible to leave negative comments on the fashion bloggers’ blogs because most of them were, and still are, moderated. Not that I posted negative comments, I never felt very like doing negative comments even if some negative thoughts kept popping up on my mind. What drove me crazy was that those that simply wanted to say that they didn’t like that or this outfit were automatically attacked and considered trolls. I cannot understand and I never understood why it is so socially accepted to criticize celebrities but in the fashion bloggers’ world there’s no space for a discussion, nor healthy nor unhealthy.

This is the only reason I created this blog for.

You say that fortunately nobody reads my blog. I’m telling you that I’m sure that if anyone picked this idea up and posted on a regular basis (say twice a day), he or she would become famous within one year. But first of all, I’ve said this several times, I have a job. And on the second hand, I don’t want to be famous for this. The same happens with being an accountant, a porn actress, a bartender and many more... They are needed jobs, they are totally respectable jobs but it’s not what I want to do in life.

I also wanted to tell you that I’ve never posted any picture of my outfits because that was not the aim of this blog. It doesn’t interest me to become famous by how I dress. As I’ve said above, even if it’s totally respectable it’s not what I want to do in life.

I have seen that you are totally disrespectful and mean, something you accuse me of. I, not like you, have never told any blogger to suicide herself or that they should get a life and stop doing what they are doing because their blog is terrible.

I have always respected fashion bloggers even if most of them are not my taste and have only talked about concrete outfits that were not nice, compensated or whatever I thought on that moment but I’ve never personally attacked any of them.

Oh, and by the way, I’m not a sales attendant.

And, thank you, you gave me the perfect way to finish this blog.

Ja. Lo primero de todo, te lo estás tomando demasiado en serio.

No estamos hablando sobre cómo acabar con el hambre en el mundo o con las guerras, estamos hablando de MODA, ¡venga ya!

Habiendo dicho esto, voy a pasar a explicarte algunos hechos que parece que has pasado por alto.

Tengo el derecho de tener mi propia opinion sobre como visten los demás y por supuesto sobre como visten las bloggers.

Tengo el derecho a tener mi opinion y tengo el derecho de expresarla como me parezca major.

Nunca he ganado nada con esto ni me he dedicado a esto de una manera serie porque, afortunadamente, tengo un trabajo y una vida que me impiden postear regularmente. Últimamente, he dejado de postear porque no tengo tiempo y porque estoy un poco harta de criticar. Sí, no es mi manera habitual de hacer las cosas, lo admito. Empecé este blog porque me parecía terrible que fuera imposible dejar comentarios en los blogs de las fashion bloggers porque la mayoría estaban, y están, moderado. No es que yo posteara comentarios negativos, nunca me sentí con ganas de hacer comentarios negativos aunque algunos pensamientos negativos no hicieran más que saltar en mi cabeza. Lo que me ponía enferma era que aquellos que simplemente querían decir que no les gustaba este o aquel look eran automáticamente atacados y considerados troles. No puedo entender ni he podido entender nunca por qué está tan socialmente aceptado criticar a celebrities pero en el mundo de las fashion bloggers no hay espacio para la discusión, sana o insana.

Esta es la única razón por la que blogueaba.

Dices que afortunadamente nadie lee mi blog. Te digo que estoy segura de que si alguien pillara esta idea y posteara de una manera regular (por ejemplo dos veces al día), él o ella se harían famosos en un año. Pero en primer lugar, ya lo he dicho varias veces, tengo un trabajo. Y en segundo lugar, no quiero hacerme famosa por esto. Lo mismo me pasa con los contables, las actrices porno, los camareros de barra y muchas otras profesiones… Son trabajos que se necesitan, son perfectamente respetables pero no es lo que quiero hacer con mi vida.

También quería decirte que nunca he posteado ninguna foto de mis looks porque no era el objetivo de este blog. No me interesa hacerme famosa por cómo visto. Como he dicho arriba, aún cuando es totalmente respetable no es lo que quiero hacer con mi vida.

He notado que has sido totalmente irrespetuosa y cruel, algo de lo que me acusas a mí. Yo, no como tú, nunca le he dicho a ninguna blogger que se suicide ni que deberían hacer algo con su vida y dejar de hacer lo que estaban haciendo porque su blog era terrible.

Siempre he respetado a todas las fashion bloggers incluso siendo la mayoría de ellas lo contrario a mi gusto y solo he hablado de looks concretos que no eran tan monos, no estaban compensados o lo que fuera que pensara en el momento pero nunca ataqué personalmente a ninguna de ellas.

Y por cierto, no soy dependienta.

Ok, I'm fed up with give aways. Blogs were supposed to be so independent but they are worse than traditional media because as they are not used to brand attention when they get a little bit, they feature the products with all their energy and they act as they were the coolest people in the world just because a brand sent them some meaningless little present or e-mail. The problem is that this is gonna get worse. Fortunately, justice in USA is sometimes fair and is now forcing bloggers to disclose anything featured on their blogs that was given to them for free or for review. Getting to the final point, I have found rather amusing this giveaway featured on MissAtLaPlaya in which to be eligible for winning you have to be a follower of Patricia Nicolas' blog (the brand). It is kind of aghhhh, isn't it?

Lo confieso, estoy harta de los sorteos. Se suponía que los blogs tenían que ser tan independientes y son bastante peores que los medios tradicionales porque no están acostumbrados a ninguna atención por parte de las marcas y cuando tienen un poquito de ésta, muestran los productos con toda su energía y actúan como si fueran los más geniales del mundo entero sólo porque una marca les mandó un regalo sin importancia o un e-mail. El problema es que esto va a ir a peor. Afortunadamente, la justicia en EEUU es justa a veces y ahora obliga a los bloggers a informar de cualquier cosa que salga en un blog y sea un regalo o que les fuera dado para escribir una opinión. Llegando a donde quería llegar, me parece bastante divertido el sorteo que hace MissAtLaPlaya en el que para ser elegible para ganar tienes que ser un follower del blog de Patricia Nicolás (la marca). Es un poco puajjj, ¿verdad?

In my last post a reader, A, made a comment about why Tavi is being so criticized taking into consideration that in spite of her age she knows a lot about fashion and has a wide and big interior world. I agree, she knows a lot about fashion and she has a highly vast interior, you just have to read a couple of posts to be aware of that.

But not only in Fashion, in anything, you need more than knowing and being a profound person, to succeed and keep up there on top.

My personal view on this topic is that Tavi is a little girl that in spite of all her virtues – she has many – is too young. Even if she were the most intelligent person on earth she would still have a very big handicap living in a world ruled by adults, that is she’s still too young and lacks a lot of experience that is precisely accumulated during all teenager years so as to be able to make good and appropriate choices when we become adults. That’s what is to be a teenager, to make many mistakes and good choices that will later give us the wisdom to be able to survive and perform better as adults.

It’s her choice and her parent’s choice to be blogging exposing herself so much, but if they are acting that way it must be because the pros clearly compensate the cons.

But being exposed means you can receive critics. It’s the bad part of blogging. On one hand you may achieve a lot of things, fame, popularity and jobs in a way that was unthinkable a couple of years ago. But, I repeat, if you’re there for the good, you’re there for the bad.

And as for Tavi’s choices when she dresses, makes a picture of her and uploads it on her blog, I think that she was fresh, she was childish and she had a great style that now she’s beginning to lose because of her search for originality. It is not only about mix and match and searching for combinations that have not been done before, it’s also about achieving a final balanced result, even if strange, that tells a full comprehensive story.

En mi ultimo post una lectora, A, hizo un comentario sobre por qué Tavi estaba siendo tan criticada considerando que a pesar de su edad ella sabe muchísimo sobre moda y tiene un mundo interior ancho y grande. Estoy de acuerdo, sabe muchísimo sobre moda y tiene un mundo interior muy grande y sólo tienes que leer un par de posts para darte cuenta.

Pero no sólo en el mundo de la moda, en cualquier cosa, necesitas algo más que saber y ser una persona profunda para triunfar y mantenerte en la cima.

Mi opinión personal sobre este tema es que Tavi es una niña pequeña que a pesar de todas sus virtudes – tiene muchas – es demasiado joven. Aunque fuera la persona más inteligente sobre la tierra seguiría siendo un gran hándicap para vivir en un mundo dirigido por adultos el ser tan joven y que le falte tanta experiencia que precisamente se acumula durante los años de adolescencia para poder tomar buenas y adecuadas decisiones cuando nos convertimos en adultos. Eso es lo que es ser adolescente, hacer un montón de errores y buenas elecciones que después nos darán la sabiduría para poder sobrevivir y actuar mejor de adultos.

Es su elección y la elección de sus padres el que se exponga tanto pero si están actuando así debe ser porque claramente los pros compensan los contras.

Pero estar expuesta significa que puedes recibir críticas. Es la parte mala de bloguear. Por una parte puedes conseguir un montón de cosas, fama, popularidad, trabajos de una manera que era impensable hace un par de años. Pero, repito, si estás ahí para lo bueno, lo estás para lo malo.

Y sobre las elecciones de Tavi cuando se viste, hace una foto suya y la cuelga en el blog, pienso que antes era fresca, infantil y que tenía un gran estilo que ahora ha empezado a perder por culpa de su búsqueda de originalidad. No se trata sólo de mezclar y conjuntar y buscar combinaciones que no se hayan hecho antes, también se trata de conseguir un resultado equilibrado, aunque sea extraño, que nos cuente una historia integral.

I love Café Mode's "oeil". She always chooses particular but lovely outfits. Why is Spanish Fashion way under most of European Countries? Because too many people working in the fashion industry in Spain doesn't know how to interpret Fashion. Perfect example of this is this Spanish Stylist and Personal Shopper featured today in Zoe's blog (more pictures at her blog). Yolanda Sacristán (Vogue Spain's Editor in Chief) wrote a letter some months ago declaring that Spanish Women were afraid of dressing well. My opinion is that if our references (magazines and papers) aren't as good as Paris', Italy's & UK's, then average people that don't have access to international magazines will not be used to trends, dressing chic or being risky with criteria.

¿Por qué la Moda Española está tan debajo de otros países Europeos? Porque demasiada gente que trabaja en la industria de la moda en España no sabe interpretar la Moda. Un perfecto ejemplo de esto es esta Estilista Española y Personal Shopper que sale hoy en el blog de Zoe (más fotos en su blog). Yolanda Sacristán (La Directora de Vogue España) escribió una carta hace unos meses diciendo que las Mujeres Españolas tenían miedo de vestirse bien. Mi opinión es que si nuestras referencias (revistas y periódicos) no son tan buenas como las de Paris, Italia o el Reino Unido, entonces la media de la gente que no tiene acceso a las revistas internacionales no estará acostumbrada a las tendencias, a vestirse chic o a arriesgarse con criterio.

They even try to mix dresses so terrible as this one from Pepe Botella with others of top luxury brands like Carolina Herrera or Etxart & Panno. Or maybe the writer has a terrible taste. It's terrible anyway.

Este tipo de posts son terribles. Es increíble que haya una publicidad escondida tan obvia.
